Crew vs monday.com: boards for client projects with agents in the loop

monday.com is a flexible, board-based work platform that teams adapt to almost any process. Crew is built for project teams that work with AI agents and clients: agent runs with approval gates, a client portal, time tracking, planning and documents in one product. Crew is made by a Swiss company and hosted in Germany or Switzerland, your choice; on-premise on request.

Moving from monday.com to Crew

Simplified picture of an import: tasks, comments, worklogs and attachments move into Crew.

Crew has a built-in importer for Jira projects, but no importer for monday.com boards. A guided migration is done on request: we look at your boards and columns, map them to projects, task types and statuses, and load the data with Crew's REST API. Tell us which boards and how much history you need. Crew's REST API also lets you load tasks with your own script.

When monday.com is the better choice

  • Many teams outside project delivery (sales, HR, operations) need to build their own boards, and a wide template library helps them start.
  • You want enterprise governance with multi-level permissions, a 99.9% uptime SLA and 24/7 support from a large vendor.
  • Your processes depend on a large number of marketplace integrations that Crew does not cover.
  • Occasional users must be productive without introduction, and agent runs and a client portal are not part of your work.

Cost

Crew starts at 20 EUR or 20 CHF per user per month, with a minimum of 10 users. The price per user falls as the number of users grows; the tiers will be announced later. Agent usage is billed separately, or you bring your own API key. LXD and deployment setup is quoted separately. For monday.com, plans are priced per seat; see its own pricing page for current prices. Compare total cost for your team size, including the features you need from higher plans.

Frequently asked questions

Is Crew a monday.com alternative?

For project and agency teams, yes. Crew covers tasks, boards, workflows, timeline, time tracking, documents and a client portal, and it runs AI agents on tasks with approval gates. For company-wide custom boards in many departments, monday.com may fit better.

Can clients work with us in Crew?

Yes. The client portal is part of Crew. Clients sign in with an email link or a one-time code and see only what you allow: tasks, comments, planning, documents, hours or approvals.

Can we import our monday.com boards?

There is no monday.com importer. A guided migration is done on request: we map your boards to projects, task types and statuses and load the data through the API.

Where is our data stored?

In Germany or Switzerland, your choice; on-premise on request. The public instance at crew.avidia.ai runs at Hetzner in Germany. If you use AI providers from the US, the CLOUD Act can apply to that part; these providers can be swapped, and own models are possible.

Does Crew work with our own AI models?

Yes. Own models are possible, for example Qwen, Mistral or Apertus hosted at Infomaniak. Agent usage is billed separately, or you bring your own API key.

What does Crew cost compared with monday.com?

Crew starts at 20 EUR or 20 CHF per user per month, minimum 10 users, with a lower price per user for more users. Agent usage and LXD or deployment setup are separate. For monday.com, see its own pricing page; the best comparison uses your team size and the plan features you need.
