Client portal
Project management with a client portal built in
Crew includes a client portal: your clients sign in, see the projects you share with them and can comment, create requests and approve work, all on the same data your team works on. You decide per client and per person what they see, from tasks and planning to documents, logged hours and costs.
Last updated:
What clients can do
| Permission | What it allows |
|---|---|
| View tasks | See the tasks of their projects on a list and a board. |
| Comment on tasks | Write comments and give feedback where the team works. |
| Create new tasks | Send requests and bug reports straight into the project. |
| Edit task fields | Change title, description, priority and due date. |
| View planning | See the planned work per person and day, read-only. |
| View agent info and runs | See which agents work on their tasks and how runs are going. |
| Review and approve runs | Decide at approval gates: approve, approve with changes or request changes. |
What clients can see per project
Each project decides which modules appear in the portal. All of them are read-only for clients:
- Tasks and the project board.
- Documents and files the team shares.
- Milestones, releases and the timeline.
- Hours logged on the project, as a total.
- Costs, and costs by person, if you want to show them.
- Efficiency figures for the project.
Approvals, comments and previews
When agents work on a task, a run can stop at an approval gate. If the gate is assigned to a client, the client gets a notification, opens the review in the portal, looks at the preview and decides. Comments can be pinned to the preview itself. A comment is required to request changes, and the agents read it when they pick the work up again.
Clients also get an inbox in the portal with recent comments and status changes on the tasks shared with them, so they do not have to dig through email.
How clients sign in
- Email link or one-time code. No password to remember.
- Inside Microsoft Teams, the portal can open in a tab and sign the person in with their Teams identity, where this is set up.
- A person who works with several of your clients can switch between them.
Why one system for team and clients
When the client view is a separate tool, someone copies status updates, files and hours from one place to the other, and the copies drift. In Crew the client sees the same tasks, the same documents and the same hours the team works with, filtered by what you allow.
Frequently asked questions
Is the client portal an extra product?
No. The client portal is part of Crew.
Can a client see everything in a project?
Only what you allow. Permissions are set per client and can be changed per person, and each project chooses which modules appear in the portal.
Can clients approve work done by AI agents?
Yes, if they have the permission to review and approve runs. They see the preview, can pin comments to it and approve, approve with changes or request changes.
Do clients see our logged hours?
Only if you switch it on for the project. Then they see the total hours logged, and costs if you choose to show them.
