Cost comparison
What project management costs for teams of 25, 50 and 100 people
In per-seat tools like Jira and Asana, cost grows with every person who needs an account: the team, internal stakeholders and often clients too, plus apps that are billed on the same user count. Before you compare price lists, count who really needs access. Crew has no public price list yet; we give quotes based on your numbers.

How per-seat tools are licensed
- Per user per month. Every named account counts, whether the person works in the tool daily or once a month.
- Tiers. Features such as advanced planning, permissions, audit logs or data residency sit in higher tiers. Moving up a tier usually applies to every seat.
- Add-ons. Apps from a marketplace or separate products (documentation, service desk, time tracking) come on top, often billed per user as well.
- Seat bundles. Some vendors sell paid plans in fixed seat steps, so you can pay for more seats than people at time of writing.
We do not quote competitor prices here, because they change and depend on tier, billing period and region. Check the current numbers at the source:

How the seat count grows
The team is rarely the only group that needs access. This example adds internal stakeholders (about one in five of the team) and a few people per client who want to follow their project. Your numbers will differ; the point is the multiplier.
| Team | Internal stakeholders | Client users | Accounts if everyone gets one | Apps billed on |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 25 people | 5 | 10 | 40 | 40 users per app |
| 50 people | 10 | 20 | 80 | 80 users per app |
| 100 people | 20 | 40 | 160 | 160 users per app |
The yearly cost in such a tool is roughly: accounts × price per seat × 12, plus each app × the same account count × its price, plus separate products such as documentation or a service desk. Doubling the team more than doubles the bill once stakeholders, clients and apps grow with it.
Why client users and AI agents change the math
- Client users. If clients have to be named users to comment, approve or see status, every client adds seats. The alternatives are a separate service desk product, or sending updates by email and losing the history.
- AI agents. When agents take on work, the question is how they are billed: as users, as usage-based AI credits, or as part of a higher tier. Ask each vendor, including us.
- Hidden add-ons. Time tracking, timesheets and documentation are often extra apps or products. Each is priced on its own, and in Jira, Marketplace apps follow the full user count.
In Crew, the client portal, time tracking, planning and documents are part of the product, and agents run on the task with approval gates. How that is priced for your team is part of the quote.
What to send us for a quote
- How many people work in the tool every day.
- How many internal stakeholders need to comment or follow status.
- How many clients you run projects for, and how many people per client need access.
- Which add-ons you pay for today (time tracking, documentation, service desk).
- Whether you want to use AI agents, and for what kind of work.
- Hosting: Germany or Switzerland, your choice; on-premise on request.
Frequently asked questions
How much does Crew cost?
Crew has no public price list yet. It is in invite-only beta, and we set pricing with the teams using it. Request beta access and we will give you a quote based on your team.
Is Crew cheaper than Jira for 50 or 100 people?
We do not claim a number without a quote. Count your team, stakeholders, client users and add-ons, compare that with the current vendor prices, and ask us for a Crew quote on the same numbers.
Is the client portal a separate product in Crew?
No. The client portal is part of Crew.
Why don't you list Jira and Asana prices?
Because they change and depend on tier, billing period and region. The vendors' own pricing pages are the only reliable source.
